Did You Know...

If you are contemplating the purchase of an access system it is important to know the difference between Central and Distributed processing.
  • CENTRAL PROCESSING—All of the decisions to allow or deny access to any door is made at the computer or head-end. Should this part of the system become defective the entire system may fail or go into a degraded condition
  • DISTRIBUTED PROCESSING—All of the decisions to allow or deny access to any door is made at the local controller level. Losing the computer or head-end will not cause the system to go down. This type of system is the most common today.
