Burglar alarm

Overview

There are several options for designing the right burglar alarm system for your home or business based on security needs and budget. Options can range from a fully integrated advanced alarm system to basic coverage in all the important areas. If you chose to have your burglar system monitored, PELMAC will develop a contract with you and our Central Station partner, CentraLarm. Monitored devices will be connected through a network, phone or cell, allowing systems to be installed in almost any environment.

Burglar alarm systems are armed while the house is empty or while everyone is sleeping. If a burglar attempts to break-in while the system is armed, our 24/hour answering service, CentraLarm, will either try and contact you directly and retrieve your passcode, or directly contact the police. Your alarm protocol can be determined when you set up your system and it can be changed at anytime. Going on vacation for awhile and want the police dispatched immediately if your alarm goes off? Contact our office and we would be happy to set that up for you. Customers can also receive text notifications when the alarm goes off.

Basic Components of
A Burglar System

Wireless

Many home and business owners prefer to set their burglar system up wirelessly. The added benefits of a wireless system are that they generally they take less time to install, they have a clean wire-free design and if cellularly connected to CentraLarm, the system will still work if phone wires are cut. The batteries for a wireless system can last up to three years.

Remote Controls

Customers within a certain range of their alarm system (i.e parking lot) can arm or disarm the system using a small remote control. No more rushing to the keypad with an armful of bags and groceries! Remotes also have a panic button feature. Police will be dispatched immediately if the user hits the panic button.

Motion Detectors

As the name implies, these devices are designed to detect motion. They can be installed either on the wall of a room or on a ceiling. There is a variety of different motion detectors available to fit certain security needs such as, long range, low temperature and pet immunity. Long range motion detectors are perfect for warehouses or very large spaces. Low temperatures are designed for garages, basements, attics or other colder areas of a home or business. Pet immunity is for those with small pets. There is a setting that can allow a pet within a certain weight to pass an armed motion detector without the alarm going off. Motion detectors can be used in addition to door/window contacts or without, depending on the security risks and preferences of the owner.

Panic Buttons

Panic buttons are commonly used in schools and banks. These are installed under desks or counters. In the event of an of emergency, employees can press the panic button and the police will be dispatched.

Z-Wave Device

Enhance and heighten the safety of your home with automated and integrated Z-Wave devices. Several compatible Z-Wave devices such as deadbolt locks, thermostats and lighting can be controlled with the Virtual Keypad mobile app. The app provides all the functions of the security system keypad on the mobile device. At the touch of a button, users can control any of the connected Z-Wave devices or any of the standard alarm system functions.

Keypads

Keypads can contain a variety of features. Not only can customers arm/disarm the system, users can send emergency signals. There even is an option to have access control integrated with your keypad/burglar alarm system. If the two systems are configured, your access control card or key fob can automatically disarm your system when it’s used with the appropriate reader.

Door/window contacts

Contacts can be set up along door and window frames so when the alarm system is on, and a door or window is open, the alarm will go off. PELMAC can install contacts for any style door or window (including garage and hatch doors). Contacts can be installed wirelessly, offering a clean design and ease of use to the customer. Depending on customer preference, some door/window contacts can be installed in the door frame, making them disguised with the frame.
